Special conditions apply and owners and masters should request full instructions from agents before committing their vessels. Three days’ notice of arrival is required. Tankers up to 204m in length of a maximum deadweight of 32 000Mt and draught not exceeding 12m (no swell) may berth. Tankers may only berth in daylight hours at a terminal 0.9 nautical miles offshore where water depth is approximately 18 to 21m. Both anchors and up to five swamped moorings, supplied by the terminal, will be raised by the harbour authorities in readiness for taking on board.

The 200mm hose has a weight of 2 – 3Mt and will be lifted by ship’s gear on the port side. When secured, the vessel lies on a heading of 108° True North. The ship’s crane must have a lifting capacity of 5Mt.

Marine tanker terminal, single point mooring buoy. The buoy facility is situated at Voorbaai, an open unsheltered roadstead in position latitude 34° 8’ 6” S, longitude 22° 8’ 5” E in a depth of ABT 21m of water. It is an Imodco type single point mooring buoy with a three hose system which may be used simultaneously. The system consists of a ballast line and two product lines. One of the product lines is dedicated to 93 and 97 octane petrol and the other is dedicated to distillates, namely illuminating paraffin and automotive diesel oil.
